Supermarket 2021 is rapidly approaching, and with it, the Virtual Art fair as well! Kultura.Art is a collaboration between Supermarket 2021 and a company called StikiPixels (responsible for producing the video game ‘Occupy White Walls’). This year we will recreate the physical art fair in the virtual world, featuring also artworks of Aglaja Ray. The digital version will allow to reach audiences far beyond Stockholm, and expand the impact of the artist-run scene. Aside from the in-game virtual art fair based on the real-life venue, Stadsgårdsterminalen, art will also be featured on KULTURA’s website. The main goal of Aglaja ’s work is visualising metaphysical concepts, education through art, development of public self-awareness. Aglaja Ray is not limited to the creation of visual arts, but perceives art as a tool to acquire the knowledge of self and the world beyond material means. She sees art as the instrument for the study of existence, inviting us to advance in creative thinking. www.aglajaray.com For inquiries: [email protected] When the artist gets notification on Kultura.Art profile that his/her artwork is bought that doesn't mean a sale in real life. It is when someone adds your art to their collection in OWW, the "game" part of Kultura in which the developer is building the Virtual Art Fair. It is merely a game mechanic and an indicator for the artist of how popular their work is with the user base of Kultura/OWW in general. "Buying" art in this way is a game mechanic, and the currency is "cubes" - no actual real life money changes hand, it is just the currency used in the game part to buy furniture, architecture and art to put in your gallery. SUPERMARKET – Stockholm Independent Art Fair is an international art fair for artist-run initiatives. Supermarket is dedicated to exhibiting artist-run spaces, artists’ collectives, nomadic spaces and independent artists’ initiatives of all shapes and from around the world. The key aim is to display unique projects, create opportunities for new local and international networks and share the strengths of the independent art world with a large audience. The art fair exhibition is accompanied by the public Talks and Performance programme with invited performance artists and speakers from Sweden and abroad. Supermarket takes place annually in Stockholm, Sweden. Supermarket has been arranged in Stockholm since 2007 by a small group of organisers most of whom are artists themselves. Supermarket is a development of Minimarket, which was held in Konstnärshuset (The Artists’ House) in February 2006 in reaction to the new commercial art fair Market. Over the years the project has rapidly evolved from exhibiting a modest group of local initiatives to a full-fledged international art exhibition that firmly established Stockholm on the art world map.
